How to Achieve Whole-Body Wellness for Men: It’s All About Balance
Wellness is just as important for men as it is for women. However, traditionally, men don’t make their health and wellness a priority. Yet, when whole-body wellness is achieved, your quality of life can dramatically improve.
To achieve this optimal wellness, it’s all about balance: All systems need to be operating correctly. Sleep, nutrition, and stress management all play a major role in achieving that balance.
Just as important, however, is hormone balance: If one hormone is out of whack, it is likely that others may be too. That’s why bioidentical hormone replacement therapy, along with the right tools and lifestyle changes, can help you achieve whole-body wellness.

Balancing Your Hormones
Balancing hormones in men is just as important as it is for women. Yet far more women will seek out treatment for hormone imbalances. And we want to change that!
Men can experience hormone imbalances as they age, however, symptoms are far more gradual than for women. Because of this, many men may just think they have to “live with” their waning energy and zest for life. Plus, lifestyle choices, stress, medications, and excess weight can all bring on hormonal imbalances.
There is far more we could discuss regarding bioidentical hormone replacement, and you can read about it on our Hormones for Men page. It’s all part of our whole-body approach to wellness. With our extensive laboratory testing, we not look at which hormones might need balancing, but also at other health markers so we can address any underlying issues.
To give you some idea of how extensive these tests are, here’s what your lab panel will cover:
- PSA – Prostate-specific antigen test
- CBC – Complete blood panel
- CMP – Comprehensive metabolic panel
- CRP, Cardiac
- DHEA-Sulfate
- Estradiol
- Ferritin
- Sex hormone-binding globulin, serum
- Testosterone Free, Serum with Total Testosterone
- TSH – Thyroid
- Free T3 – Thyroid
- Reverse T3 – Thyroid
- Thyroid Peroxidase (TPO) – Thyroid
- Thyroglobulin antibodies – Thyroid
- FSH
- Hemoglobin A1C
- Homocysteine
- Insulin
- Luteinizing hormone
- Lipid panel
- Magnesium
- Vitamin B12 and Folate
- Vitamin D3
We may add more tests based on any other health concerns you may have, so we get a full picture. From there, we can determine how to treat you to achieve optimal health and wellness.
Wellness for Men Can Be a Gut-level Issue
Another vital part of whole-body wellness is gut health. How vital? Well, if your microbiome is out of balance, not even bioidentical hormone treatment will get your hormones into a balanced state!
Your microbiome is key to a strong immune system. When your immune system is in great shape, you’re far more protected against autoimmune conditions, chronic disease, even cancer. Balancing the microbiome also helps you digest better, use nutrients more efficiently, and rid your body of waste and pathogens.
Fortunately, our providers at Forum Health Las Colinas are experts in nutrition and gut health as well as hormones for men. We offer several tests to help determine what could be causing issues with your microbiome. These include gastrointestinal, nutritional, and food sensitivity tests. For a full description of the importance of your microbiome, and everything we can offer to help you with your gut health, read our Gut Health and Hormones page.
More Tips on Wellness for Men
We wanted to share a few more simple tips to improve your overall health.
Make sleep a priority
Be sure to get at least seven to nine hours of sleep every night. This gives your body the chance to heal and recharge. Sleep also lowers stress and cravings and sharpens memory. You can find much more information on how to improve your sleep on our Sleep Problems and Treatments page.
Eat a healthy, balanced diet
Getting proper daily nutrition is crucial to your overall health and well-being. Include plenty of the right nutrients in your diet, and limit foods and drinks high in calories, salt, and sugar. And if you are currently eating a healthy diet yet still suffer from health issues, we can help with nutritional testing.
Get plenty of exercise
Make sure you’re incorporating regular exercise into your normal routine. Men who exercise are less likely to suffer from conditions like high blood pressure, diabetes, osteoporosis, coronary artery disease, and depression.
Monitor your mental health and stress levels
Pay close attention to warning signs of depression and try to manage your stress in a healthy way. High levels of stress can be extremely harmful to the body, and these days, there’s more stress than ever in our lives.
