November is Men’s Health Month!
At the Offices of Forum Health Las Colinas, We’re Here to Help You Take Charge of Your Health.
November is Men’s Health Awareness Month across the United States. Ads, articles, and videos about No-Shave November and Movember are everywhere, as men grow their mustaches and beards to raise awareness about men’s health issues. And that’s fantastic!
Here at the offices of Forum Health Las Colinas, we focus on men’s health and wellness all year round — so we’re always happy to see more emphasis put on this vital issue!
We help you with anything you need to achieve optimal health and wellness. Sure, it can be tough to have “that conversation” about a particular issue with your health. But know that we’re here to listen and to help.
After all, health and wellness are just as important for men as for women. Some concerns men call us with are:
- trouble sleeping
- low libido
- decreased stamina
- increased stress
- stomach/GI issues
- memory or concentration problems
- wanting to feel better overall
No matter your current situation, we can help you feel your best. And that starts with being aware of the issues men face regarding their health.
Men’s Health and Wellness: The Facts
- Heart disease is the leading cause of death among U.S. men, accounting for almost 25% of deaths. And half of the men who die suddenly from coronary heart disease experienced no previous symptoms.
- According to the American Cancer Society, one in eight men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime, and one in 41 will die from this disease. Other than skin cancer, prostate cancer is the most common cancer for men in America.
- Per the CDC, nearly 52% of men 20 years and older have hypertension (abnormally high blood pressure), with many of them taking medication to treat their symptoms.
- More than 40% of men over 20 are obese. And obesity can increase the risk of many diseases, including diabetes, heart disease, and some cancers.
Fortunately, you don’t have to become a statistic. By taking charge of your health now, you can live a long, happy, vibrant life!
Hormone Imbalances Affect Men, Too!
You might think only women need to balance their hormones — but men have hormonal imbalances, too! What you may think is just a “natural part of aging” may very well be a hormonal imbalance.
What does it feel like when your hormones are optimally balanced? You sleep well and have plenty of energy to get through your day. Your immune system is strong, and so is your sex drive. Overall, you have a healthy zest for life! If this isn’t the case right now, we can absolutely help get your hormones in balance.
With our whole-body approach to wellness, we perform extensive laboratory testing. This helps us discover which hormones need balancing, as well as many other health markers, so we can address any underlying issues.

How to Take Charge of Your Health and Wellness
Since it’s Men’s Health Month, we wanted to share a few tips to improve your overall health. And no, you don’t have to grow out your mustache or beard — unless you want to, of course!
- Eat better. Make nutrition a priority and avoid processed foods and those high in sugar, sodium, and empty calories. If you’re currently eating a nutritious diet and still have a health issue, we can help with comprehensive nutritional testing.
- Get moving! Regular exercise can help you control your weight and lower your heart disease and stroke risk, and men who exercise are less likely to suffer from depression.
- Sleep well. Seven to nine hours of quality sleep each night gives your body time to heal and recharge. Learn more about how to improve your sleep on our Sleep Problems and Treatments page.
- Don’t smoke. And as much as possible, avoid exposure to secondhand smoke, air pollution, and chemicals in the workplace.
- Limit alcohol. If you choose to drink, do it in moderation. Too much alcohol can raise your blood pressure, cut across quality sleep, weaken your immune system, and more.
- Manage stress. If you feel constantly on edge or under pressure, your health will suffer. It’s vital to learn how to deal with your stress in healthy ways.
- Make friends! Studies increasingly show that having strong social connections plays a major role in your overall health. Maintaining supportive friendships can reduce your risk of many health problems, including high blood pressure, depression, and an unhealthy weight. Most importantly, having long-lasting friendships can help you live longer.
